Beware of Homeschooling!!

Beware of the adverse affects of homeschooling. It seems that with this endeavor comes a lot of free time!! With all this free time you may start sprouting extra appendages!! With these extra appendages you may begin to find "fun" things to do like scare your three year old sister and her friends.

This 8 armed creature appeared in our living room- and chased the girls around the house for quite a while last Friday afternoon. So beware homeschoolers have a lot of creative time on their hands!!

Congrats Heather!!!

She did it!! Monte's little sister graduated from Brigham Young University yesterday!! I am so proud of her. She did it all by herself. She paid for it, she studied, and she achieved. Good job Heather!! She is such a wonderful person. She has gone on different adventures and has truly been a person who took a lot out of her years in college.

Heather was 8 years old when I married her brother, Monte. So she is and always will be my littler sister. Congratulations Heather. We love you!!

My Gardeners!

I am very lucky. My mother-in-law doesn't live to far away and she loves to garden. She knows so much about it and even enjoys pulling weeds!! ( Yeah for me!) Well the other thing she loves is teaching the kids about gardening. The above picture Sydney is helping to plant flowers in the front yard.
Kaitlyn, we have discovered, has the gardening knack just like her grandmother. She always walks around the house to check on the flowers and gets so excited when a new ones come to bloom. My mother-in-law use to tell me what needed to be done after a new plant is planted, now she calls and tells Kaitlyn and Kaitlyn sees to it that it gets done.

When Kaitlyn was 5 we were on a trip at a hotel and she started taking all the old heads off of a rose bush. A lady asked her not to do that and Kaitlyn answered her, "I am helping the rose. If you don't dead head it you can't get new and pretty roses!" Yes, she knows what she is talking about.

Britton is also learning so much. He has gotten to where grandma can tell him what and where to plant and walk away. Last summer he planted the most beautiful snap dragons. (those are his favorite)

What does this all mean to me? A beautiful yard and a lot less work. Thank you my little family of green thumbs!

Spring is in the Air!

So do you like my new colors? I decided it was time to pretend Spring is here. Well Spring is here Utah version!! This picture was taken last week of my tulip bed in the front yard. As for the picture of my children on the side all bundled up, it hasn't been warm enough for a good family photo session!! For all of you unfamiliar with Utah that means yesterday was 70 degrees and today is 45 degrees. (please note the 25 degree change and imagine my deep sigh!!) But if you are my mother and you are reading this post I'm just exaggerating you should move, here it will be fun, think of the grand kids!!:)

Well it is Sunday morning time to get the troops ready for church. Speaking of Utah, that is the great thing it only takes me two minutes to get to Church! How long does it take you?

Not Now Connor!!

So yesterday I got my Internet back and Connor took advantage of his mother playing. He found the bag of a thousand straws to dump!! Thank you Connor for reminding me I have to be a mommy. So not learning my lesson, I tried to play again! So Connor was eating and I was free to go play for ten minutes or so (right)...

Wrong!!! I forgot to pay attention to Sydney and Sadie!! So they took the time to dump an entire bowl of popcorn all over the floor!! Thanks girl.So since Connor was done eating and heading for the dishwasher detergent under the sink OR...

worse yet the TRASH!!! I better just call it good!! So now that Connor is sitting next to me and I can smell him and hear his grunts I better go back to being a mommy!

Could it Really be True?

I am on the Internet!!! I have yet to keep the connection for more than 5 minutes. So here is a tester run. I didn't realize how much I like being able to look at blogs and search the net. I couldn't believe how many times you go to look something up and can't. We had to give talks this last weekend and I'm telling Monte, "I have to look it up in a book!!" It has been so long since you did anything that way. Not only that but our bishop asked us to talk about conference which isn't in hard copy yet!! I just felt disconnected!! I know that at any time I could have called any of my friends on the phone and find out how they are doing but not checking their blogs is driving me crazy!

So this has been a crazy week. Britton has been doing end of school year testing down town everyday and the kids have had projects at school and to top it off Monte has been working tons of hours also!! I am tired and just want to surf. So I am off to surf the world wide web...

My Birthday Wish

Here is my birthday wish. Today my really good friend and her daughter head back to Tennessee to check on Chase at St. Jude's. Chase was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year. She then spent some tough months at St. Jude's. She now has to go back to St. Jude's to make sure all is well with her. If all the test come back normal Chase will jump back on a plane and head home in a few weeks. And that is what we are praying for.

So today is my birthday. While I lived in California Chase's mother, Season, and I always celebrated our birthdays together. I miss that so much today. But I only have one birthday wish-- I wish my Chase happiness and a clean bill of health. I hope each who read this will take a moment in their prayers for this beautiful girl who has already gone through enough.

We love you Chase and as always our prayers are with you!!

Rejuvanated

What an absolutely wonderful weekend we just had. For friends who are not a member of my faith, this last weekend was General Conference Weekend. This means in the words of my little kids, "Church is on T.V." So twice every year you can throughout the world find conference being broadcast on television, radio, and the Internet. This time of year is where we spend Saturday and Sunday listening to the voices of our prophet and the 12 apostles.

Monte and I were really lucky we got to go to the conference center in downtown Salt Lake City and be in the meeting with these wonderful leaders. There were some wonderful talks given. I was inspired and made a list of things I would like to start working on. One of the great things about this particular weekend is that it is our new prophet Thomas S. Monson's first conference weekend as the prophet. It was wonderful to stand with my children and sustain him and support him on Saturday morning.

I just want to take this time to tell my family and friends how important Jesus Christ is in my life. I can't imagine living a life that was not influenced by him. I try to be a mother that teaches my children of His sacrifice for us and how much they are loved by Him. I love my Savior and I am grateful for the life he gave so that someday I too may live with my Eternal Father, my Savior, and with my family forever.

I am here!

It feels like forever since I was last able to blog. I have been pretty busy with life. Today Chandler had to go to the dentist and have quite a bit of dental work done so that always stresses me out. Why is it that I can stress out just as much when one of my kids are hurting as when I myself are in pain.

I have a complete phobia of going to the dentist. I was a child with a horrible man for a dentist. I have always been very anxious about going. What I didn't realize was that the anxiety of seeing the dentist is just as severe for me when my kids go!! It wasn't bad enough when I was single and dealt with the anxiety of going now I have 5 more individuals that I stress over.

Motherhood is more than you could ever describe to someone. How do you explain what if feels like to be a mother. What it feels like to watch your baby smile for the first time, or feel for your child as their feelings are hurt by another, or watch your young man receive the priesthood. All your hopes and desires are all rolled into you yet you are still trying to let them have their own hopes and dreams and let them feel disappointments. What a life. But I thank my Father in Heaven everyday for the opportunity I have been blessed with.
